Hello Salam,
Classroom Management ! I like this topic too. It is really a menace for a novice teacher to stand on a podium and ‘look’ at a class of 60 to 150 (that too college students).  We have example of many teachers crying in the class or just leaving it!
My experience says that if you start with personal note on day one , ‘know, address and respect’ every student you win the half battle. At least they don’t drive you out of the class. Next is you have to be ‘Prepared’ for one complete our. If they get slightest hint that you are just doing bla bla bla... they won’t allow you to stand. They really want to ‘learn with interest’ use technology which is their latest interest and bring multimedia... it fascinates them...

Hello Nishrin,
Classroom management is a very critical subject in the class. A very good teacher is a very good manager. Management means success in delivering the materials in a proper way. I know many teachers complain about the number of students. In my country Yemen a secondary school classroom now is 150 to 180 students in a class. A university class is 70 to 200 in a class. It is difficult for a teacher to manage but if we try we can manage. I believe that technology can help a lot in this situation. I agree with that preparation is a the start point in management. When a teacher is prepared well, that is management. In preparation there is a very detailed process that a teacher should follow. That is the secret hidden in classroom management.
Thank you

Couple of things from my experience:  1) a teacher who is energetic and likes what s/he is teaching will pass that feeling along to her students. . . which leads to 2) I think that ELLs respond best to interesting content- content that is cognitively challenging and relevant to their lives.  This motivates them to communicate about the content - to explore, to share, to show what they know and what they want to know.  The successful ELT then can support students efforts by helping then learn the language they need to do the above.  For me content leads language in the EL classroom.  What do others think?  Best, M.

A reply during the Web2.0 course

Hello Michael and everyone,
I am honored to visit Nik's Quick Blog and I find it outstanding. It's one of the best Blogs I've ever visited. I spent five hours and I will spend days and maybe months to learn more about this blog. First I was distant and I couldn't decide which tool should I choose and talk about because all the tools are great and very useful for my students and I . Then I change my mind and decided to talk about the following tool:

The Final Post in this Course ( Week 10 )

Hello Sheire, Jodi and everyone,

I am proud to talk about the course and its benefits. I am positive that everybody learns a lot. I learn a lot starting from the ground rules till the survey. I got what I miss during my teaching experience! I get a lot of feedback, communication with my classmates, communication with my instructors, searching different engines, searching different websites, using my critical thinking skills, exchanging ideas with my classmates, getting to know different experts, reading a lot of materials regarding teaching techniques, applying what I learn, experiencing different techniques, and learning from my classmates in the course. To tell you the truth this course is rich, effective, supportive and creative. I try my best to get everything from the course. I believe that the materials introduced in this course are huge and much more time should be given to grasp the materials given. I suggest that this course will last for 15 weeks to give the participants and the instructors time to deal the materials and assignments given.
The tools are superior I like all of them very much. I used most of them in my class. I used blogs, nicenet, surveys, interactive ppt, interactive exercises, and websites. My students like the idea of communication even though their time is limited especially out of the class.
I am planning to spend sometimes going over the materials and websites I got from the course. I will do my best planning a workshop for the teachers in my institution to introduce to them this course and concentrate on some tools. I will encourage some teachers to apply for this course.
I would like to thank Jodi, Sherie, Jeff, participants and everyone who support me in this course.
Wish you all the best!

Thank you!

A Message To All ( Week 10 )

What I like about you is you!! What I like about you is your way of enlightening and strengthening the different tools in the course, especially the nicenet discussion. Your way of presenting and replying to each others' posts makes me realize the importance of your presence in this course. You have this hidden power in your souls that force people to bow when they see you passing by like a white cloud in the sky flying here and there. I am astonished by the amount of knowledge that you have. Your power of critical thinking style is amazingly pictured by your highly respected approach of communicating with each other. I do feel sorry that this course is about to finish and I didn't use every minute to participate. I feel after this course I will lose the opportunity of learning and getting new ideas, values and insights regarding my career and my daily life. I learn a lot from everybody in this course. I learn care, knowledge, critical thinking, organization, power, modesty, perseverance and cooperation. I have this feeling that your great and valuable contribution to the course. This course is unique and outstanding. I wish that this course would last longer.
Now it is time to talk about the main source of this program the respectable, rich, knowledgeable, bright, super, and marvelous instructors. Their great help makes us all become one team and work to support each other. One major role in making this course superior is the wonderful instructors, Jodi, Sherie, Sean, and Jeff.
I won't forget the University of Oregon and its staff. I would love to delicate these words to all of you and I hope you will enjoy reading them. This is a simple try expressing how I feel:

Interactive, super and applicable
Superior, fruitful, and understandable
Great, marvelous and reliable
Magnificent, perseverance, and lovable
Perfect, competitive, and adorable
Curious, charming, and agreeable
Encouraging, energetic, and flexible
Awesome, great, and incredible
Thankful, innocent and sensible
Grateful, helpful, and predictable
Stunning, trustworthy, and sociable
Courageous, generous and hospitable
Attractive, bashful, and visible
Cautious, delighted and workable

During this course I experience pleasant characters and personalities. I know different abilities; brilliant minds super, powerful people. This helps me understand the different techniques you use in all your work and writing. I believe that every single participant will end up with a noble work. No one will forget the different activities we did during the course. If I had the chance, I would write a sonnet about the course and its participants. Allow me dear instructors and participants to tell you that words can’t really convey my deepest feeling towards you all. I am sorry that I keep you reading my vanishing words. Saying goodbye is something sad and painful to all. Saying see you again or communicating with you again are other hopeful and may be painful words. This is life and no one can control it, none can change its direction or its plan. When there is an end to a movie, there is an end to our course. I think that we can keep in touch by using our blogs, nicenet, ANVILL or emails. It's a good idea that we keep in touch talking about some technical problems regarding teaching and other classroom interactions. This will be a great opportunity to keep in touch and have a follow up for the course. I know people are busy with their own business. I am sure that if people plan themselves they can do it. They can spend some time communicating with each other.
Thank you Sherie, Thank you Jodi, Thank you Sean and Thank you Jeff , Thank you participants and thank you to all who help making this course a success.

Week 9: The End of The Pleasant Journey!

Hello Jodi & Sheire and everyone,

I am writing these words and I am mesmerized, paralyzed and breathless because this course is going to end. I love the moment I communicate with everyone in this course. I love the moment I understand and learn from everyone. This week is the 9th and I collect a lot of information and learn the power of thinking and discussion. Allow me dear to start speaking about this golden, super, bright and outstanding course. We started with getting to know each other and then introduced to the ground rules for the discussion. Which are the basic and main strategies that we all follow during the course. I learnt to create my own blog and I tried my best to learn more about the blog and its features. I got the idea of writing something and commenting on my classmates work. I am obliged to be introduced to the ABCD learning objectives. I read more about the ABCD from different materials. I used these techniques when I did my lesson plan and I  used it a lot during this course. I had a pleasant tour and discover the most effective web search. I add to my bookmark a lot of websites and I feel great that I have these rich websites. Then I worked on Oral/aural skill-building websites and bookmarks with Delicious. I read different materials about Oral and aural. The bookmarks I got familiar with are a great help for me and my students. I moved to reading and writing websites which gave me huge benefit about the techniques of reading and writing. I spent some times searching some websites and read, analyze, and summarize some ideas about reading and writing. Then I learn more about lesson plans using technology and tools that help in teaching. Then I move to Webquests, Rubrics and PBL. I struggle in making my own Webquest but finally I ended up with my successful webquest. I read a lot of materials about PBL which needs much time concentrating on the materials given because there was a huge benefit. I learn about large classes and interactive powerpoint. These two points are very interesting to me and I learn a lot in term of application. A big number of websites give a lot of information about the large classes and the interactive powerpoint. Then I was introduced to Learner autonomy and the one-computer classroom and which another excellent subject. I spent a wonderful time discussing, forming, and preparing the project. I experience the best practices in the webinar I learn about its features. I tried my best to apply what I learnt in my classes at the institutes and I will do my best to use the materials, websites and ideas soon. I will try my best to go through the materials again and learn more and discover other beneficial ideas.   I am very happy that I communicate with the course participants during the course. I felt great when I share the discussion through the nicenet. I add a lot to my experience and my filed of teaching. I apply till now most of the technological tools that I learn from this course.  I am proud that I attend this course and I met the great instructors, the bright guests and the wonderful participants.

Thank you very much indeed for your time.

Week 8 My Dream Comes True

Dear Shiere, Jodi, Jeff and friends,

I have the privilege to write about week 8! To tell you the truth I suffer and face difficulties in finding the information I want and I face a problem in opening some websites in ANVILL! I am lucky that I experience different tools this week. It is very busy week because of the different tasks that the instructors assign. I do admit that this week is one of the strongest, hardest, and most beneficial weeks I've ever had during the term. I am this kind of person who feels disappointed when I don't get what I want. I am astonished by the amount of reading and searching that we have to do. I sometimes spend hours thinking and arranging my thoughts and trying to understand the various tasks assigned. I honestly believe that lots of hard work makes people learn indirectly and become more than qualified in their field. What makes me happy this course is the amount of materials I received and I read. I don't want really to lose a minute this course but it is out of hand. I want to promote for his course everywhere. I hope that this course will be taught to all instructors in the world. The joy comes through learning a new idea or a new method  and I adore learning, my teachers, and those who spend their time and effort helping me and clarifying every single matter. In week 8 I am impressed, thrilled, terrified and petrified by the amount of materials I got.
I won't forget to welcome and thank Mr Jeff who helps and introduce ANVILL and other valuable tools to us. I would like to offer my warm regards to his great contribution in this week. I really like all the materials he introduced to us. Another wonderful idea is the webinar that was held on Friday! I spend a great time listening to Jeff, Sherie, Jodi and my classmates. It was awesome.
In this week lots of activities are done by all the participants. I read lots of materials and design some lessons, surveys, a lesson plan,  we communicate through the nicenet and we shared comments and thoughts. We enjoyed the nicenet discussion and the partner activities. I realized a positive attitude towards the project peer work. I thank my partners, Vijay  and Ludmila for their support during this week. I thank Sherie and Jodi.
Thank you very much for you all and I hope that you will do well in your final projects.

Dear Yousef, I love you and you will always be my precious child. I usually picture you as a man of respect. Your powerful image proves ...
